Southern Spendor - Museum Ball
The Birmingham Museum of Art

This modern gala is one of our cities most glamorous affairs! Each year, we work with the Museum to create a loose interpretation of an art exhibit or piece of art on which they choose to base the theme for the event. Featured in these images, the theme was based on a pastel painting of Shades Creek Grist Mill in Mountain Brook. The painting featured soft lavender wisteria, sky blues and light greens. Eventually the inspiration of “southern porches” and “southern weddings” set the tone for the decorations at the event. Everything from the invitation to the type of food and signature Mint Julep cocktails were based on the "Southern Splendor" title. This event’s design featured luxury linens in rich textures with large scale florals in lush greenery and southern blooms to include Hydrangea, Roses, Lisianthus, Stock and Snapdragons. Tables settings of mixed vintage china and ornate silverware offered a traditional formal setting. Greenery arrangements garnished with white gardenia blooms represented the gardenia shrubs that grow in southern landscape. Magnolia leaves were a feature in every centerpiece as well as garlands that adorned the tent. A hedge of greenery and hydrangea lined the stage as a representation of what you might also see around a southern porch. Hanging fixtures with flowers and romantically draped globe lighting gave the tent ceiling the charm of an evening garden party and the video projection on the tent gables featured wisteria blooms blowing in the wind. Guests enjoyed a dining experience in the Museum’s galleries and afterwards danced the night away under the southern sky.
